About Coach Theresa

Theresa FroehlichI am a professional Life Coach with diverse trainings, skill sets and intercultural backgrounds. This variety of skills and experiences has uniquely prepared me to be a versatile, competent, and interculturally skilled and sensitive coach.

Having grown up in Hong Kong and spent most of my adult years in the United States and Canada, I am proficient in both English and Chinese. After having mingled with internationals for decades, I navigate cross-cultural situations with skill and sensitivity. I understand issues such as workplace diversity and cultural adaptations in intermarriages and interracial dating. When I walk into a room, my background and my competencies represent diversity.

Additionally, I have effectively coached a large number of Caucasian American clients on a wide variety of topics such as discovering dreams and passions, finding work-life balance, improving time management, goal-setting for Empty Nest parents, making decisions about career change, overcoming obstacles to college success, identifying life direction after divorce, and finding God’s call.

  • I am a parent who launched my young adult children with significant challenges. I fully understand the heartaches that parents feel when your young adults fail in college, get involved with addictions, and show risky and self-destructive behaviors. I offer valuable insights into your pain and guide you to develop coping strategies when your young adult children fail to launch.
  • I had been a woman with a strong self-identity before children came along. But I must admit that becoming an Empty Nest mom has been a far more difficult transition than I expected. I take a wholistic and compassionate approach to coaching Empty Nest moms through this significant life change.
  • I served as the Executive Director of a British nonprofit, an accountant for an American insurance company, and a financial analyst for a large Canadian corporation. I understand professionals in the workplace and the diversity issues there.
  • I believe that the soul is an important part of our being. When life changes come our way, the soul is required to work overtime. I tap into my training and experience as an ordained minister in the Presbyterian and the Pentecostal churches to coach you wholistically so you will once again find peace in your soul home.
  • I have been married to my Caucasian American husband for almost 30 years. I am sensitive to the topics that come up in an intercultural marriage. I thoroughly enjoy working with individuals and couples exploring intercultural topics.

As a result of these experiences, I understand the movement through life transitions and the accompanying emotions, the dynamics of personal and spiritual growth, leadership development, diversity challenges in the workplace, and cross-cultural issues in marriage and parenting. These experiences have equipped me to connect people from a wide variety of backgrounds. The skill sets I have developed effectively prepared me to coach individuals desiring to develop personally and spiritually, seeking new direction in life, dealing with career and other life transitions, attempting to enhance the quality of their relationships, and aiming to become more effective parents for their emerging adults.

I am a Certified Professional Coach (certification from Erickson College, Vancouver BC), a Certified Trainer of Leading From Your Strength Profile (certification from Ministry Insights Inc.), and an ordained minister (Assemblies of God Church). I hold the Master’s of Business Administration (University of Washington), the Master’s of Divinity (Regent College, Vancouver B.C.), and the Bachelor’s of Social Sciences (University of Hong Kong). I have also been previously ordained in the Presbyterian Church USA and certified as an accountant in Canada.

Of all the information about me as a Life Coach, perhaps my Purpose Statement is the most important piece.

My Purpose Statement

To empower women and men to grow personally, spiritually, and intellectually.

You may have heard it said, “Everyone should have a life coach!” I wholeheartedly agree with this. Every time I begin to coach my clients, I find myself feeling envious because I have allowed so many years of my life pass by without a life coach. I hope you choose to walk a different path.

Reach your highest good for your highest purpose by connecting with Theresa Froehlich, your compassionate Life Coach, and spiritual companion.
